NSCZ CALLS FOR CONSTRUCTIVE DIALOGUE AT ZBF AGM

.

The National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) has called on basketball stakeholders to abandon what it described as “armchair criticism” and instead use formal channels to address governance concerns.

Speaking at the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sombwa Musunsa in a speech read on his behalf by NSCZ representative Richard Ndazye, says public criticism and social media attacks are hindering the growth of basketball and discouraging potential corporate sponsors.

The call comes days after former ZBF General Secretary Otema Sy Musuka issued a statement alleging that the AGM is breaching the federation’s constitution.

Musunsa has strongly encouraged stakeholders to use the appropriate institutional platforms to air grievances, submit proposals and contribute to the development of the sport instead of resorting to public criticism.

He has further directed the incoming ZBF executive to convene a Basketball Stakeholders Indaba before the end of the year, saying the forum should provide a transparent and structured platform for clubs, administrators, technical experts and other stakeholders to discuss governance issues, share ideas and find lasting solutions for the growth of basketball.
