Monze East aspiring candidate Victor Cheelo has announced his withdrawal from the parliamentary race, saying the decision, though painful, was made in the interest of the bigger picture supporting President Hakainde Hichilema.
Addressing the media alongside Jack Mwiimbu, Mr. Cheelo says he has decided to put aside political differences and work together with the former rivals in a united effort ahead of the August 13 General Election.
Mr. Cheelo stated that he and Mr. Mwiimbu are now in good terms and urged their supporters to embrace one another and avoid divisions, stressing the importance of unity in strengthening support for President Hichilema.
Speaking at the same briefing, Mr. Mwiimbu welcomed Mr. Cheelo’s decision, describing it as a progressive move that will help consolidate support in Monze East and allow greater focus on the President and the ruling party’s agenda.
