The Zambia Police service in Lusaka has launched investigations into a murder case reported at Kanyama West Police Post involving unidentified male who was discovered dead in the early hours of today, 3 July 2026
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says the incident is believed to have occurred around 05:15 hours in Kanyama West Compound and that the matter was reported by a community member aged 43 of Kanyama West, who discovered the body lying motionless on the road while on his way to work.
Mr. Chilabi adds that Police officers promptly visited the scene where they found the deceased lying on his back with an orange coat bearing the label “NBC” covering his face higlighting that physical examination revealed multiple cut wounds on the head, ribs, legs, and back.
The body has since been removed from the scene and conveyed to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
He further says a murder docket has since been opened, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident have commenced.
Police has appealed to members of the public who may have information that could assist in identifying the deceased or lead to the apprehension of the person responsible for this crime to report to the nearest police station or contact the Zambia Police.
