Over 20 families in Mailon Community located west of the capital city Lusaka, are spending cold nights for about a week after their houses were demolished by a named mining company.
Some desperate families disclose to Diamond News that last Sunday around 23 hours over 29 houses were demolished by agents of the named company, leaving helpless residents in a dire condition.
They have since appealed to the government to intervene to pave the way for compensation from the firm because they have nowhere to go and restart their lives.
Namalobwe Ward Councillor, Bright Sinazongwe, who sympathizes with the aggrieved residents, has taken a swipe at the company he says must provide alternative land for the community it has displaced.
When reached for comment a female representative of the mining company declined to issue a statement, but hinted the exercise was guided by a court order.
