ICU, POLICE PARTNER TO CURB CYBER CRIMES

.

The Zambia Police Service has disclosed that it is recording an increase in cases of cyber-related crimes.

In a bid to help curb and detect these offences, the Information and Communications University (ICU) Cyber Security Department has developed a cybersecurity system aimed at tackling scams, mobile money theft, phone theft, and providing forensic services such as WhatsApp and social media forensics.

The system is a software program that will be used by the Zambia Police Service.

ICU Director of Research, Professor Oliver Silumbe, said the software will enhance the fight against cybercrime in the country.

And Inspector General of Police Grapheal Musamba has urged other universities to emulate ICU, stating that the fight against cybercrime must continue, especially in this digital age.
