HERVE RENARD APPOINTED AS TUNISIA COACH

.

2012 AFCON winning Coach Herve Renard has been appointed as Tunisia’s new head coach, following the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi in the wake of a 5-1 World Cup thrashing at the hands of Sweden on Monday morning.

The Tunisian Football Federation President Moez Nassari announced the appointment on national television, confirming that an official agreement has been reached with Renard set to take charge of the national team until the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Renard is no stranger to big tournament football, having guided Saudi Arabia to a shock victory over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, before going on to coach the France women’s team.

Lamouchi, a former French international, had only been in charge since January, making his tenure one of the shortest in Tunisian football history.

The heavy defeat by Sweden leaves Tunisia facing an uphill battle to reach the knockout round, with their next Group F match against Japan scheduled for Saturday.
