The Government has released K1.4 billion for the May–June 2026 Social Cash Transfer (SCT) payments, benefiting more than 1.5 million vulnerable households across the country.
Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Angela Kawandami says payments began on 29th June, with 92 percent of beneficiaries now receiving funds electronically through mobile money and bank accounts.
She says the digital payment system has improved efficiency, transparency, and accountability, while reaffirming the Government’s commitment to strengthening social protection programmes.
