Government has reduced the hours of load shedding from 12 hours to eight (8) hours staggered in four (4) hours.

Acting Minister of Energy Douglas Syakalima says the decision arises from the resumption of the 150 megawatts Maamba Collieries Limited power generation into the national grid.

Mr. Syakalima adds that the general public will have 16 hours of power in a day as opposed to half a day.

In his ministerial statement the Minister warned perpetrators validalising ZESCO cables that they will be dealt with decisively.

He made the remarks at a press briefing in Lusaka.

  1. In the first place we aren’t supposed to be loadsheded… So whatever government is doing is nothing as long as they loadshed us. Government must stop picking easy victories. They started loadshedding and they have reduced the hours, we should be clapping?
