Some residents in Kapanda Ward of Lukashya Constituency in Kasama District of Northern Province are infuriated with the non-consideration of Lubushi Bridge on projects to be worked on under the Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

This is despite the Ward Development Committee submitting the bridge as a priority.

The bridge connects over ten inter-dependent villages in the ward.

Kennedy Mibenge says the residents are now tired of politicians and senior government officials who continue to give fake hopes over the bridge.

He says lives have been lost at the bridge, adding that if nothing is done, more lives are likely to be lost during the coming rain season.

And, another resident Katongo Mulenga says farmers have opted to sell their maize to briefcase buyers as transporters refuse to use the dilapidated bridge and road.

He has since appealed to government to quickly look into the issue of the bridge as a matter of urgency.

Meanwhile, Kapanda Ward Councilor Ronald Mulenga says the construction of the bridge has twice not been considered due to insufficient funds from the CDF.
