Kazungula District has become the second area in Southern Zambia to record Anthrax cases after Sinazongwe District.
Kazungula District Veterinary Officer, Mathews Mutale, who confirmed the outbreak to Diamond News says the disease has been reported in Sikaunzwe and Bombwe Veterinary Camps.
Dr. Mutale says in Sikaunzwe camp, Anthrax has been detected through a Zebra in the Simalaha plane while in Bombwe it has been detected in 48 cattle and 2 goats.
He further disclosed that 16 Bombwe residents are battling the disease after being in contact with contaminated animal products.
Community members have since been cautioned against consuming and or getting in contact with contaminated animal products.
Meanwhile, the district has received 33,000 Anthrax vaccines to control the spread of the disease.
Anthrax has also been reported in Lumezi District, Eastern Zambia.
