A 29-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED OVER FORGED FISP RECEIPTS AS POLICE RECOVER K226,800 FERTILIZER IN MPONGWE
A 29-year-old Bayer SeedCo merchandiser has been arrested in Mpongwe District, Copperbelt province after police uncovered forged Farmer Input Support Program-FISP- receipts and recovered 216 bags of fertilizer worth K226,800.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Rae Hamoonga identified the suspect as Chilando Kahokola of Turbine Area, Mpongwe District.
He was attached to Luanshya Agro in Mpongwe Trading Area.
Mr. Hamoonga told Diamond news that, the case was reported on August 28, 2026 at 20:00 hours by a 51-year-old supervisor at the agro shop.
He says the theft occurred between August 26 and August 28, during the distribution of FISP inputs to farmers.
According to Mr. Hamoonga, officers became suspicious after spotting a vehicle being loaded with 32 bags of fertilizer that had not been issued against any FISP e-voucher, when asked to produce a receipt, the driver said it was given to him by workers at the depot, one of them been Kahokola.
Following investigations, Mr. Hamoonga says the police recovered a further 184 bags hidden at various locations in Mpongwe Trading Area, in total, 216 bags were recovered, 144 bags of Urea and 72 bags of D-Compound valued at K226,800.
Meanwhile, the Copperbelt police chief says Kahokola has been arrested and detained in police custody.
A docket has been opened for Forgery, Uttering a False Document and Theft as investigations continue.
