
Police in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt Province have apprehended five suspects in connection with vandalism and theft of Zesco armoured cables.
According to Police, the suspects were apprehended around 07:00 hours after officers received intelligence information from a concerned member of the public that unknown criminals were seen burning suspected Zesco cables at Nanduwa cemetery in Zimba compound in Mufulira District.
Acting upon the information officers mobilized and followed up the report and intercepted a motor vehicle Toyota Spacio Registration Number AFB 3414ZM which was carrying five (5) passengers. Upon noticing the presence of the police one suspect fled the scene and five were apprehended.
The apprehended suspects have been identified as Charles Simolize aged 28,
Andrew Musenge aged 15, Peter Mwewa aged 24, Pethias Simolize aged 28 and Male driver Evaristo Kalaba aged 27 years all of kankoyo Township.
Investigations are been instituted into the matter and the suspects are currently detained at Mufulira Central Police Station.
