SUSPECTED SERIAL KILLER ARRESTED IN KABWE

Police in Central Province have arrested a 39-year-old ex-convict, Mwila Sampa, in connection with the rape and murder of three women, as well as the assault of an unidentified man in the Mukobeko area.

Central Province Police Commissioner Charity Munganga confirmed that Sampa, who was released from Mukobeko Medium Correctional Facility on 17 February 2025, was apprehended on 8 April after a laptop bag belonging to one of the deceased victims was found in his possession.

According to police investigations, Sampa confessed to the rape and murder of three women identified as:

Agnes Mambwe, 65, of Mukobeko Correctional Services Camp, who went missing on 20 March 2025. Her body was discovered behind Mukobeko Maximum Prison on 9 April.

Emelda Banda, 51, of Maipambe area, who disappeared on 28 March and was found dead near the Waterworks area in Mukobeko on 31 March.

Joyce Matabula, 44, also of Maipambe area, whose body was found on 4 April.

Sampa also admitted to assaulting an unidentified male victim and stealing his mobile phone. The male victim survived the attack.

Commissioner Munganga further disclosed that some stolen items were recovered from the residence of Sampa’s grandmother in Makululu Compound. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.

Police have appealed to any individuals who may have been attacked by the suspect to report to the nearest police station in Kabwe.
