Some Civil Society organizations have called for the suspension of all Permanent Secretaries and Directors at the Ministry of Finance and Auditor General’s office, who were transferred to other government institutions over alleged misuse of public funds amounting to over K100 million.
On Thursday, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa announced that government had transferred the said officials pending ongoing investigations.
But in an interview with Diamond News, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Chapter President, Sampa Kalungu, has opposed the transfer, saying they may interfere with the system.
Mr. Sampa hopes that those who are being investigated can be put on suspension so that they do not interfere with the investigations in any way.
And, Alliance for Community Action (ACA) Programs Manager, Jimmy Maliseni, has urged law enforcement agencies to extend their investigations to other Ministries.
