The body of a 38-year-old man who was reported missing earlier this week has been retrieved from the Mansa River.
The deceased has been identified as MATHEWS CHISANGA, a resident of Chinanda Village in Chitamba who was reported missing on 16 September 2026.
His body was discovered at around 17:00 hours on Friday, 18 September, by Enock Mwewa, a resident of Chabalamuwe.
The body was found approximately 300 metres from the Zambia Army Officers Mess.
The Mansa Municipal Council Fire Brigade conducted the recovery operation, with health personnel and officers from the Zambia Police Service in attendance.
The body has since been deposited at Mansa General Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting postmortem and burial.
Authorities are also urging the public to avoid entering unfamiliar or potentially dangerous water bodies and to report missing persons or emergencies to the relevant authorities without delay.
Mansa Municipal Council says its Fire Brigade continues to respond to emergencies, including fires, road traffic accidents, water-related incidents and other situations requiring specialised rescue and recovery.
