‘BROTHERMAN’ APPREHENDED OVER ALLEGED HATE SPEECH

The Department of Immigration has apprehended 44-year-old Zambian national Misheck Mulubwa, popularly known as ‘Brotherman’ on TikTok, over alleged hate speech and insults against the President Hakainde Hichilema.

Mulubwa, who uses the TikTok handle @Kabongo Kitungu5, was apprehended in Kasumbalesa at around 15:30 hours on September 12th, 2026, following a coordinated operation led by the Department of Immigration and other defence and security wings.

Department of Immigration Chief Public Relations Officer Namati H. Nshinka says Mulubwa is alleged to have repeatedly published social media content containing insults against the President and the Presidency, as well as tribal and hate speech.

Mr.Nshinka says preliminary investigations indicate that Mulubwa had allegedly been staying on the Democratic Republic of Congo side of the border and occasionally crossed into Zambia.

He has since been transported to Lusaka, where he is expected to be formally charged in accordance with the law, as investigations continue.
