Zambia’s annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 6.5 per cent in July 2026, maintaining the same level recorded in June, according to the latest Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats) Monthly Bulletin.
The statistics mean that, on average, the prices of goods and services were 6.5 percent higher in July 2026 compared to July 2025, indicating continued price stability after inflation declined sharply from 13.0 percent recorded a year earlier.
Meanwhile, annual food inflation eased to 6.4 per cent in July from 6.7 per cent in June, driven by price movements in cereals, fresh milk, sugar, cooking oil, and eggs. ZamStats says the figure reflects the average increase in food prices over the past 12 months.
However, non-food inflation rose to 6.7 per cent from 6.0 per cent in June, mainly due to increases in the prices of furniture and furnishings, paraffin, charcoal, and the purchase of vehicles.
The latest figures suggest inflationary pressures remain largely contained, with headline inflation holding steady despite an increase in non-food prices.
