WOMAN WHO DROWNED 2 STEP CHILDREN IN LUSAKA COMMITTED TO HIGH COURT.

A 26-year-old Lusaka woman of Meanwood Kwamwena Phase Four, accused of drowning her husband’s two young children has now been committed to the High Court for trial.

Mary Kashilika, appeared before Magistrate Tandose Chabala in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court where the matter was formally committed after the Director of Public Prosecutions certified it as a proper case for trial by the High Court.

She faces two counts of murder over the deaths of six year old Mathias Kamanga and two year old Tifiness Kamanga.

The charges arise from an incident on February 25 this year, where it is alleged that the two children were thrown into the Ngwerere River near Meanwood Kwamwena.

The body of the six year old boy has later retrieved while that of the 2-year-old girl remains missing.

The accused remains in custody and is expected to appear before the High Court, where she will take plea to the two murder charges.
