The Joint Permanent Commission on Defense and Security between Zambia and Zimbabwe has noted with concern the emerging threats of border crimes owing to an influx of undocumented immigrants and perpetual smuggling.
Commission Chairperson who is also Zambia’s Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary, Norman Chipakupaku, says there is urgent need for both countries to enhance collaboration in order to address the impending threats.
And Co-chairperson and Zimbabwean Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary, Mark Marungwe, says the influx of illegal immigrants from various hot spots within the continent and transitional organised crimes remain a major concern that calls for concerted efforts to fight.
The duo made the remarks at the thirty-third session of the Zambia and Zimbabwe Joint Permanent Commission on Defense and Security in Livingstone.
