Zesco has announced that the 100-megawatt Mailo Solar Power Plant, valued at more than US$90 million, has reached 70 per cent completion.
Speaking during a tour of the project site in Chitambo District, Central Province, Zesco Chief Operations Officer Fitzpatrick Kapepe says the next phase of construction will commence in July, with the project expected to be completed in March 2027.
Mr. Kapepe says the project has so far created more than 600 jobs for locals, adding that once completed, will contribute 100 megawatts to the national grid, helping to improve electricity supply and meet the country’s growing energy demand.
