UPND ALLIANCE URGES ZAMBIANS TO RENEW MANDATE, SLAMS OPPOSITION

.

The UPND Alliance has called on Zambians to return it to power in the August 13 General Election, arguing that it has transformed the country’s governance, economy and social sectors over the past five years.

Speaking at a press briefing New Nation Party President Dr. Nevers Mumba says the coalition represents genuine unity, insisting its members are driven by a desire to serve the country rather than personal gain.

He has praised President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, saying development has benefited all Zambians, while describing the Tonse Alliance as unprepared to govern and warning that it could plunge the country into crisis.

Patriotic Front President Miles Sampa has dismissed criticism that the he had created confusion, saying those making such claims were themselves fielding multiple candidates while claiming to be united.

Meanwhile, UPND Alliance Chairperson Charles Milupi says the 16-member coalition remains Zambia’s oldest, largest and most successful political alliance, having formed government after winning the 2021 elections.

.

Mr Milupi says the Alliance will campaign on its record by reminding citizens of the country’s progress since 2021, including improved peace and political tolerance, economic recovery, free education, increased Constituency Development Fund allocations, teacher recruitment, school feeding programmes and the revival of the mining sector.

He has appealed to Zambians to vote for the Alliance once again, saying another term would allow it to consolidate the gains already made and continue implementing its development agenda.
