
President Hakainde Hichilema has successfully filed his nomination seeking re election in the 2026 August polls.
Mr. Hichilema is going in this election returning Mutale Nalumango as his running mate with the message of peace, unity and development.
If he wins, he will have held office twice with his next tenure being the last according to the Zambian constituency.
As the nomination process officially closes,in total 14 presidential candidates have successfully filed in their nominations, paving the way for the official commencement of campaigns.
Among those on the ballot are Kelvin Bwalya Fube of Zambia Must Prosper with running mate Milner Katolo; and Brian Mushimba of Organised People’s Party alongside running mate Andyford Banda.
Also in the race are independent candidate Given Katuta with running mate John Nyirenda; Xavier Frankling Chungu of the Liberal Democrats Party alongside Gerald Mwanza; and Given Mwenya Chansa of the Movement for Economic Emancipation with running mate Harrison Chewe.
Others include Harry Kalaba and running mate Moses Mawere; Fred M’membe with running mate Dolika Banda; and Richard Silumbe with running mate Kamweneshe Kaela.
The list also includes Brian Mundubile with running mate Makebi Zulu; Howard Kunda and running mate Chipo Miyoba; Daniel Pule with Bert Mushala; Richwell Siamunene with Nicholas Banda; and Ackim Ndhlovu alongside running mate Mirriam Banda.
With nominations now closed, attention shifts to the campaign trail as candidates begin canvassing for votes ahead of the August 13 polls.
