
Police in Lusaka have apprehended a murder suspect, Collins Lungu, who had been on the run since 2025 over the death of his father.
According to Police Public Relations officer Godfrey Chilabi, Collins Lungu was arrested on May 12, 2026, in Bauleni Compound after officers acted on intelligence that he had resurfaced in the area.
On September 4 2025, the suspect assaulted his 63-year-old father, Chizola Lungu, during a domestic dispute after the deceased stopped him from using a phone charger.
The suspect allegedly attacked his father using fists, a grille door, and a wooden bench, leaving him with multiple injuries.
The victim later succumbed to the injuries, while the suspect reportedly fled to an unknown district in Eastern Province.
Collins Lungu is currently in police custody awaiting court appearance.
