Police in Lusaka have arrested 42-year-old Kasonde Mwenda for allegedly transmitting deceptive electronic communications.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, Mwenda is accused of producing and sharing a misleading video on his Facebook page, “Kasonde Mwenda C,” on May 1, 2026.
The video allegedly portrayed a Presidential motorcade as having lost its way en route to an event in Chinsali District, a claim authorities say is not true.
Police say the offence is contrary to Section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
