Students pursuing different skills under the Luangeni Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries in Chipata are struggling to keep up with school due to unpaid meal allowances.
Some students who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of being victimized have raised serious concerns that the sustainability of schooling is becoming a challenge because of the unpaid meal allowances.
They say concentration in class has also been affected, while others are contemplating leaving school and going back home.
When contacted for a comment, Chipata City Council Public Relations Officer Joan Zulu acknowledged the concerns of the students and has says the local authority has concluded the verification exercise of all students in school pending payment.
She has assured the students that they will soon be paid their allowances.
