FAZ TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ZULU APPOINTED FIFA HIGH-PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST FOR AFRICA

.

The Football Association of Zambia has announced that Technical Director Lyson Zulu will join FIFA as the Technical Development Scheme High-Performance Specialist for Africa.

Zulu, who joined FAZ as Football Development Manager in March 2019 before becoming Technical Director the following month, holds degrees in Sports Management from Loughborough University and Sports Performance from Bath University. In 2024, he earned the FIFA Technical Leadership Diploma in Zurich alongside 23 other technical directors worldwide.

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande congratulated Zulu on the appointment, calling it a powerful endorsement of the quality of expertise being developed within FAZ.

While his departure deprives the association of his expertise, his exit to an international platform serves as a moment of pride, Shepande said, adding that the appointment underscores FAZ’s growing reputation as a contributor of high-level technical professionals to global football.

Shepande described the move as a victory for Zambian and African football, noting that Zulu’s new role provides an opportunity to influence high-performance systems across the continent.
