The Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) says Lake Kariba water levels, which had been on a declining trend, have begun to record marginal increases following recent rainfall activity on and around the lake and its immediate catchment areas.
In its latest update issued on Monday, the Authority attributes the slight improvement in water levels to increased inflows resulting from the ongoing rainy season within the Kariba catchment.
ZRA notes that the development offers cautious optimism for water storage at the Kariba Dam, which is critical for hydropower generation and other downstream uses along the Zambezi River.
