The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry has expressed concern over the rising price of cement on the local market urging companies to slash the prices.
Speaking during a briefing with market players in Lusaka Saturday, Commerce Minister Chipoka Mulenga says it is worrisome that cement is being exported in large quantities while local consumers continue to face shortages and escalating prices.
He has emphasized that while government supports the export of locally produced goods, such exports should not disadvantage Zambians who depend on cement for construction and other essential projects.
And speaking on behalf of all manufacturers, Dangote General Manager for Sales and Marketing, Cassandra Mhone has assured that companies will work to maintain a consistent supply and stabilize prices to meet domestic demand.
Meanwhile, ZESCO Chief Operating Officer Peter Chamfya has also assured stakeholders that the power supply challenges affecting Ndola plants will be resolved by tomorrow Sunday 7th December 2025.
