President Hakainde Hichilema has responded to concerns from groups planning a protest outside State House over the constitutional amendment process, urging for dialogue as the most effective path to meaningful reform.
He notes that while citizens have every right to express themselves, Zambia’s democratic values are best upheld through engagement that promotes clarity, mutual respect and national unity.
The President says that a nationwide consultation led by the Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments comprising experts from civil society, faith-based organizations, traditional leadership and other sectors has already gathered views from all provinces, including those of youth, women, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
He adds that State House is the people’s house and has since invited the organizers to a structured meeting inside State House where their concerns can be addressed directly and constructively.
Earlier Oasis Forum Chairperson Beauty Katebe indicated that they have concluded all necessary procedures to protest against Bill 7 on 28th November 2025.
