HAUPTLE NAMES FINAL SQUAD FOR WAFCON QUALIFIERS AGAINST NAMIBIA

.

Copper Queens Head Coach Nora Häuptle has named her final 25-player squad expected to take on Namibia in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers set for this month.

Zambia will play the first leg at Dobsonville Stadium in South Africa on October 22, before hosting Namibia at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, four days later.

The winner of the two matches will qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, a tournament which will also serve as a pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the top four teams earning spots.

Kabaghe Mupopo and Racheal Kundananji are among the players expected to solidify the team in the front, following the absence of Skipper Barbra Banda, due to injury.

Hazel Nali has made it to the final squad, following her return from her ACL injury she sustained at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, that kept her away from professional football.

Local-based players will open camp on Thursday, with foreign-based players joining after their respective weekend club fixtures.
