Four days after the African Table Tennis Championship, the Zambia Table Tennis Association has today commenced its training for umpires and referees.

The training, which is expected to take a full week, will have different levels of training with umpires being trained first.

The African Table Tennis Championship that was held in Algeria from September 3rd to 9th had among other countries, Zambia which participated but did not perform so well.

However, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has provided Zambia with an instructor, Michael Zwipp from Germany.

Zwipp says the importance of the training is for umpires to learn the rules and manage matches.

Meanwhile, ZTTA President Mutale Ng’andu is looking forward to seeing Zambia Table Tennis on the world map after such a training.
