Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has established a mineral value chain Data Analytics Unit to prevent artisanal, small, and medium miners from evading mineral tax payments.
ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda says the unit will merge the mineral production reports submitted to the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development with tax payments made to the Authority.
Mr. Banda notes that this will increase revenue collection from the artisanal, small, and medium mineral sub-sector.
Meanwhile, Federation of Small-Scale Miners in Zambia President Joseph Mwansa says intensifying patrols among artisanal and small miners will enhance safety and revenue collection from the sub-sector.
Mr. Mwansa adds that partnerships between the government and artisanal miners are paramount to promoting sound mining activities and meaningful contributions to the economy.
