ZIMBA PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN HH COFFIN POST CASE

A Lusaka businessman Mambwe Zimba has pleaded not guilty to publication of a post depicting President Hakainde Hichilema lying in a coffin.

He has been charged with Prohibition of Computer Related Misrepresentation and Computer Fraud contrary to Section 12(1) of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that on February 22, 2026, Zimba intentionally and without lawful authority input computer data which resulted in unauthentic data, namely a Facebook post on “Zambia for All 2026” captioned “Nalumango pays tribute to under five politician,” showing President Hakainde Hichilema laying in a casket, with intent that it be considered as authentic.

When the charge was read to him by mgistrate Webster Milumbe, Zimba pleaded not guilty.

Meanwhile the court has granted Mr Zimba bail in the sum of K600,000 in his own recognizance with two working Lusaka-based sureties.

He remains in custody until he meets the bail conditions.
