Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority ZICTA has recorded an increase in Cybercrimes related matter following complaints received in the 2022 data base.

ZICTA Manager Consumer Protection and Compliance Edgar Mlauzi told a media and stakeholders interaction meeting on Cyber security awareness month in Lusaka that the number of complaints had increased from 1,930 in 2021 to 3,599 in 2022 and are mostly related to black mail, impersonation social media and mobile money scams.

Mr. Mlauzi adds that 8 of the suspects involved in the crimes have been convicted and 2 are still appearing in the courts of law.
