Zesco United have been suspended from the Zambian Premier League after the Ndola-based club was found guilty of taking football-related matters to ordinary courts, bypassing established internal dispute resolution mechanisms.
The Premier League confirmed the suspension in a letter addressed to the club’s Chief Executive Officer, citing Zesco United’s failure to reverse the court process despite prior warnings.
All fixtures involving the Ndola giants have been halted with immediate effect and will remain suspended until the matter before the courts is fully resolved.
Zambian Premier League Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chimpampwe, who signed the suspension letter, advised the club of its right to challenge the decision. He urged Zesco United to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves and to take prompt steps to resolve the situation through the appropriate channels.
