Zambia’s power utility ZESCO has disconnected 16 unmetered houses in Kawire residential area in Chilanga District, South of Lusaka, as part of its campaign to crackdown on illegal electricity connections.
ZESCO Chief Investigations Officer Ennie Mbelenjele has told journalists that it has been an uphill battle fighting what she termed as a syndicate of illegal electricity connections.
ZESCO has put in place an amnesty that is running from the 1st to 30th of April 2023 for individuals who have illegally connected their houses to the national grid to regularize their connections.
