ZAMMSA TO SAVE K6 MILLION ON WAREHOUSE RENT

.

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says it is spending over K500,000 monthly on rented warehouses for the storage of medicines, resources that could be redirected towards procuring medicines.

ZAMMSA Board Chairperson Brigadier General Gershom Chungu says the agency plans to construct two regional storage hubs in Kasama and Kabwe using funds from the 2026 national budget in order to suppliment on the already existing infrastructures a move expected to reduce rental costs by about K6 million annually.

Brig. Gen. Chungu said this during a tour of various rented storage facilities in Lusaka Wednesday, where he emphasized the need for prudent utilisation of government resources and the reduction of unnecessary expenditure by the agency.

Meanwhile, Director of Warehousing and Distribution Roosevelt Kyanamina has assured continued timely distribution of medicines across the country.
