The Joint Permanent Commission on Defense and Security between Zambia and Zimbabwe have reaffirmed their commitment to address the impending cross border crimes that threaten peace and stability.
The two countries have noted with concern that the Covid 19 Pandemic has seen an influx of transnational organised crimes, drug trafficking, money laundering and threats of terrorism.
Zimbabwean Minister of Defense and War veterans Oppah Muchinguri – Kashiri says there is urgent need for intervention to resolve the problems at hand.
And, the Zambian Minister of Defense Ambrose Lufuma was equally concerned that the region has seen a growing trend of terrorism acts, which need undivided attention to resolve.
In a communique, the commission has since agreed to support the position of SADC to immediately and unconditionally call for the lifting of sanctions on Zimbabwe to allow for social and economic development.
