The Zambian government has disclosed that the country is expected to receive cholera vaccines on January 14, 2024 to contain the disease.

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema says this will be with support from the World Health Organisation-WHO.

And the government is set to invoke the Public Health Act as a measure to contain a further spread of the Cholera disease which has so far killed 273 people.

Health Minister Sylvia Masebo has announced that the act provides for the prevention and suppression of diseases and regulates all matters connected with public health in Zambia.

25 more people have died of cholera in the last 24 hours bringing the total death toll to 273.

And 118 new cases have been recorded bringing the cumulative cases to 7,004.
