ZAMBIA SENDS CONDOLENCES TO KENYA OVER DEADLY NAIROBI FLOODS

The Zambian Government has conveyed its condolences to the Government and people of Kenya following devastating floods that have struck Nairobi’s Central Business District, claiming lives and causing widespread property damage.

Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe delivered the message on behalf of President Hakainde Hichilema to Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia W. Mudavadi on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting in the United Kingdom.

Mr Haimbe expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss of lives and the suffering caused by the severe flooding which has affected parts of Nairobi following heavy rainfall.

He says the Government of Zambia stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Kenya during this difficult period and remains confident in the resilience of the Kenyan people as they respond to the disaster.

The floods, triggered by heavy rains, have left several people dead and caused significant destruction to property in parts of the Kenyan capital.
