Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) says it has paid out over K38 million in outstanding terminal benefits to 104 former employees, covering the period 2023 to 2025.
In a statement, ZRL Managing Director, Engineer Cuthbert Malindi, says the total payment of K38,170,952.29 includes retirement benefits for seventy-seven retirees, gratuity payments for twenty-two employees whose contracts ended, and death benefits for five deceased employees, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 104.
Engineer Malindi says the settlement of these outstanding benefits marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to meeting its financial and moral obligations to both its current and former employees.
He has further disclosed that, going forward, management will implement measures to ensure all retirement packages are settled promptly as they fall due, so that employees receive their entitlements on time.
