Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, says the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation is a moment to reflect on the various challenges affecting the nation.

Mrs. Nalumango says the day is a reminder of the need to end vices like corruption, Gender Based Violence-GBV, alcohol abuse, falsehoods, and divisive language, which go against Christian tenets.

She made the remarks at the Showgrounds in Lusaka, during the commemoration of the event, which was declared a holiday by the former ruling party, the Patriotic Front, seven years ago.

Meanwhile, former President Edgar Lungu has hailed President Hakainde Hichilema for sustaining the National Day of Prayer, which, he says promotes unity and sustenance of national values.

The former President made the remarks in Lusaka when he congregated with other Christians at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Parish, in Mtendere Township.

This year’s theme is ‘Promoting National Unity, Peace and Integration for a Prosperous Zambia through Hard Work.’
