The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) Annual Report for 2022 has revealed that Zambia lost over 1.3 billion kwacha from 52 cases of tax evasion recorded in the financial year under review.
According to the report, the amount is beyond the 722 million kwacha recorded in 2021, for 17 cases representing a difference of 578 million kwacha.
The report also disclosed that 64 cases of tax crimes worth 1.3 Billion kwacha were recorded in 2022 compared to the 89 cases of tax crimes worth 1 billion kwacha.
The Centre also analyzed 155 Suspicious Transaction Reports in 2022 valued at 6.1 billion kwacha and disseminated 129 cases worth 5.8 billion kwacha in 2021.
