ZAMBIA JOINS GLOBAL COALITION ON GROWING CARBON MARKETS

.

Zambia has announced its full endorsement and membership in the Coalition on Growing Carbon Markets (CGCM) during a COP30 high-level event held in Brazil.

Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Mike Mposha, who represented Zambia, described the high-integrity carbon market as a pivotal catalyst for mobilizing climate finance, accelerating the delivery of the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets, and unlocking inclusive green growth.

Mr. Mposha noted that Zambia’s recent adoption of its National Carbon Market Framework has been translated into robust legislation and regulations. He said this enabling policy environment provides a predictable and transparent process that positions the country to attract private investment into high-impact mitigation projects benefiting both people and the planet.

This is according to First Secretary – Press and Public Relations at the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia, Lloyd Kapusa.
