
Zambia has recorded a historic 70 percent pass rate in the 2025 Grade 12 examinations.
Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima has announced that out of 194,069 candidates who sat for the examinations within Zambia, 136,357 candidates, representing 70.26 percent, obtained a School Certificate.
This marks an unprecedented pass rate exceeding 70 percent.
Speaking during the official release of the results, Mr. Syakalima disclosed that a total of 197,777 candidates registered for the 2025 examinations.
Of these, 197,690 candidates were registered from within Zambia, while 87 candidates were from St. Jeff College School in South Africa.
The Minister noted that the 2025 candidature reflects an increase of 24,810 candidates compared to the 172,880 who registered in 2024, indicating growing enrolment and improved access to secondary education.
Meanwhile, Basic Education Teachers of Zambia (BETUZ) General Secretary Henry Sinkala and National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) President Victor Muyumba have commended the improved pass rate, reduced absenteeism, and increased enrolment.
