Zambian national team coach Moses Sichone and several players have been ruled out of Saturday’s international friendly due to suspected food poisoning, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced.
FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande confirmed that Sichone, video analyst Elias Chipota, and unnamed players will miss the match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Technical Committee Vice Chairperson Kalusha Bwalya is overseeing medical care for the affected individuals at the team hotel.
Despite the setback, the match will proceed as scheduled with assistant coach Perry Mutapa leading the Chipolopolo from the touchline, supported by Noel Mwandila, Kennedy Mweene, and Joseph Musonda.
The FIFA-sanctioned friendly kicks off at 3:00 PM local time.
