Zambia has finally bagged her first medal at the ongoing Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) U18/20 African Championship in Ndola, Zambia.
Thomson Mbewe came second in the final 400m race of the U20 Men to mint silver and record Zambia’s first podium finish.
This comes a day after Zambia’s top athlete Muzala Samukonga emerged champion at the Botswana Grand Prix where he set a new personal best and national record of 43.91 in 400m.
In his previous race on Saturday, 29th April, 2023, Mbewe Thomson came third with a time of 48.3 to qualify for the African Games slated for Ghana in March, 2024.
He says the final heat of the race was among experienced athletes which has gained him exposure and improvement.
