Former Zambia Security Intelligence Service Director General Xavier Chungu remains in police custody after the Zambia Police Service recorded a Warn and Caution Statement from him for the offence of Communication of Certain Information Contrary to Section 4(1) of the State Security Act, Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia.
Police public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi says on May 24, 2026, between 16:00 hours and 18:00 hours in New Kasama, Lusaka, Mr. Chungu disclosed to the public information entrusted to him in confidence, which he accessed by virtue of holding office under the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
He says investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Police have since assured the public that updates will continue to be provided as investigations progress.
