A 25-year-old woman of Garden House, Anastasia Chingumbe, has allegedly been murdered by her lover, Maybin Chewe, who is currently on the run.
According to the landlord, Anastasia was last seen on Friday when she was dropped off at her residence by her employer.
In the days that followed, the landlord and other tenants noticed flies and a strong stench coming from the house she was renting, raising suspicion.
The suspect was initially still around and, when asked about Anastasia’s whereabouts, claimed she had gone for work.
However, after he later left, the smell and presence of flies became unbearable, prompting the landlord and tenants to break into the house.
Upon entry, they discovered the body of the deceased wrapped in a duvet, with a pool of blood found under the bed.
It is further alleged that the suspect had been sleeping in the same room beside the body.
Relatives have revealed that the couple was in an abusive relationship and had previously separated, but reunited in February after the suspect persistently returned to the deceased’s home.
The family is now calling for justice, alleging that the suspect has been sending threatening messages to the deceased’s younger sister, who is living in fear as he remains at large.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
