Zanaco Football Club has announced the resignation of head coach Wedson Nyirenda following a series of disappointing performances in the current season. Nyirenda, who took over the reins in April 2023, struggled to inspire the team, leading to a string of poor results.

The decision to part ways with Nyirenda comes after a period of mounting pressure from fans and stakeholders, who expressed concern over the team’s lackluster performance. Despite high hopes for a turnaround, the team has managed to secure only one victory in their 11 games so far.

While Nyirenda’s tenure at Zanaco was relatively short, he played a crucial role in helping the team maintain its top-flight status during the 2022/23 season. The club has expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors.

In the interim, Zanaco has appointed First Assistant Coach David Chilufya as the interim head coach. He will be supported by Assistant Coach Henry Banda and Goalkeepers Coach Kennedy Kalale. The club will be looking to Chilufya to stabilize the team and improve its performance in the upcoming matches.

As Zanaco navigates this period of transition, the club’s management and fans will be hoping that the interim coaching team can galvanize the players and turn the team’s fortunes around.
